Friday Fun: Cello Wars: The Phantom Cellist (Steve Sharp Nelson / John Williams)

A bit of instrumental music today, just for a change, with Steve Sharp Nelson and his identical cellist twin fighting a cello lightsaber battle while playing around with John Williams’ music. Watch out for Darth Vader’s solo…

You will start cello lessons now.

If you want to see Nelson being slightly more serious (but only slightly), I can also recommend his version of J.S. Bach’s Unaccompanied Cello Suite No. 1: Prelude, in which he undergoes mitosis into 8 versions of himself and plays both the Prelude and a fairly entertaining series of accompaniments.  I’m a bit of a sucker for the whole ‘cello used like a guitar’ thing, I must say.

Enjoy!  And may the force be with you!
